Hello…First thing first, the trip to MELBOURNE was fun and exciting. We learned a lot about their culture example is the Aboriginal culture. I will elaborate more on this at the later part.

On Sunday evening, at 5.45 pm, where everyone farewell their families, friends and some were hugging each other while others waved their hands as a sign of goodbye to their families and friends. Soon after we checked in our luggage, we were given extra time to say last few words before our flight take off. We then headed in to the custom for check in and made our way through the specific gate and waited for the announcement. While walking in to the airplane, everyone was smiling widely. In the airplane, it was so chaotic as some wanted to changed seats while others were not happy with their given seat. Soon the airplane taxied to the runway and take off.

On the way to Melbourne, everyone was busy talking, watching television while others dozed off. The flight was smooth sailing. The flight duration was 7 hours and 30 minutes.

On Monday early wee hours, we touched down in MELBOURNE AIRPORT and took our belongings from the cabin and stroll out to the exit door. We proceed to the custom counter and checked out. Some had problems checking out, so we waited for them. Once cleared, we went to retrieve our luggage. While waiting for the luggage, a police officer with a dog attached to it came to us and the dog sniffed our bags. Haha. We headed down to the scanning area to scan our luggage. Once cleared, we proceed to the main entrance and were warmly welcome by Ms Lucy. We waited for half an hour for the bus. In the mean time, we took this opportunity to change into winter clothing as the weather there was very cold. The bus finally came and we dumped our luggage in the cabin. We proceed on to our first destination which is WERRIBEE SECONDARY COLLEGE .We met up with our respective host in the school and they would bring us back to their house for the whole of 2 weeks. We then followed our WSC buddies for their normal lessons and at which at 10.30 am, we had to go straight to the bus for prompt departure to Werribee Zoo. We went for a tour with her around the zoo and after awhile, we went to a spot where the zoo bus will take us for a tour at which the area could not be walked as it is an WERRIBEE OPEN RANGE ZOO. In the afternoon, we headed to WERRIBEE MANSION for a look at the mansion. The building is very beautiful although it is quite old. We walked around for awhile and headed back to school where the host family will take us home. I went home with my temporary host whose name is Mrs Lynn Jones. She has a husband, a son and a daughter. Basically I did nothing much, just watched television and chatting. Not more than that.

On Tuesday morning, we headed to school and met up with the rest in the conference room and everyone had a great time. We went to the school science lab to make soaps, hand lotion and bath salts. After that we went in to the food technology classroom to make meat pies and chocolate muffins. I can say that the food taste simply delicious. In the afternoon, we went to the metal craft technology room to make a silver ring (cut and polish). In the evening, we went home with our respective host. My host brought me to the Melbourne City after our dinner and we went to the CROWNE PLAZA, a plaza with an integrated casino. Obviously, we didn’t go in to the casino. We just went for window shopping. After spending hours in the plaza, we finally went home. I slept alone. Haha

On Wednesday, we had an introduction to WSC for the staff during briefing session. Once finished, we boarded the bus and went to Sovereign Hill Ballarat, which is an old mining town where we can try our luck to pan for gold. There were souvenirs made of gold and some of the students bought it. We reached school about 3.30 pm and my new host picked me up in school and headed to her home. Her house is quite cool I can say. There are pool table, drum set, piano, bass guitar, electric guitar, trumpet and everything! Their children are multi talented! On my first day there, I did nothing much. But the subsequence day, I did a lot of stuff. Shall mention on the later part

On Thursday morning, we gathered in the conference room to think what we are going to say during the General Assembly. Once everything ended, we boarded the bus and proceed on with our activities; Melbourne City to attend a concert called the “DANCE BRAZIL”. It’s a good dance! After the concert, we went for a tour around the building called Art Centre. The tour was fun. When going back to the school, we used the train. Quite a long journey. At least we have a feel of their public transport.

On Friday, my host family did not do much. Islam came over because his host had to go for work and no one was there for him. So he came over. We had fun time playing PS2. At 12 pm, my host sent me to the mosque to do our Friday prayer. After it ends, we headed back home and continue playing until 4.30 pm where we sent Islam back to his host and went to Melbourne City to catch a football game. It was GEELONG vs. ESSENDON. My host supported ESSENDON but it lost. After the game, we headed back home and sleep.

On Saturday, my host family brought me to Phillip Island to see the little cute penguins. The duration was 2 hours drive. We went there around 11am and reached about 1+ pm.
We went to another place before reaching Phillip Island as to kill time. We were early. When it is about time for the penguins to come out, we headed to the Phillip Island and sat by the shore to see the penguins. They were so cute. After that, I met up with Geraldine and Randolph. They too went there. After the show, we headed back home.

On Sunday morning, all of us met up at YOU YANGS (National Park), my host went there quite early. Upon reaching, I saw Grace and her host family. We had a chat while waiting for the others to arrive. We then headed to the bbq pit and had a bbq session. After which, we had a tour around the park. and we also learnt about the Aboriginal people .I can’t clearly remembered what he said. After that, we headed home and I played pool, PS2 and surfed the net. That’s how I spent my Sunday.

On Monday, my host brought me to Queens Cliff to have a look at the surfers. After which we headed to the Surfers factory (Rip Curl, Billabong, Oakley and Quiksilver) the place is great! I bought a rip curl pencil case, 3 billabong wallet (opps am not greedy, it’s for my siblings.hehe) and they bought a jacket. After that, we went back home.

On Tuesday, we gathered in conference room and off we went to Melbourne Museum and then to IMAX to view the movie T-REX. We headed to Victoria Market for our last shopping of the week. The things there were affordable but I did not buy a lot of stuff. I bought a medium size Kangaroo and a few snacks to be eaten along the way. We headed back to school and then went home. I repacked my bag and try to stuff everything inside and thank god, everything is fine. I had a bag pack full of souvenirs.hehe.I had a good night sleep on that day.

On Wednesday, we had a “so called party” in the conference room and after awhile, we took photos and received souvenirs from them. Soon after, we headed to the airport and had our luggage check in and we went into the waiting area to wait for our flight arrival. On the way back flight, it’s not a direct flight, so we had to change in Sydney. From Sydney onwards, we fly back to Singapore. Half way through journey, the plane ride was a roller coaster ride. Thank god the pilot managed to overcome it and it was alright. So we reached at 10.30+ pm and then had to wait for a few minutes in the airplane which I do not know why. We stroll out of the airplane and everyone began to feel the heat After 2 weeks enjoying cold weather, when you return, it’s terrible! We headed to the custom and check out. Once cleared, we retrieve our luggage and farewell our friends before going back home. My family brought me to a place to eat spicy food. Trust me, I can’t live without chilli a day! I was craving for one since in the airplane but they did not have one.

~THE END~
